Largest Ravan effigy in town consigned to flames at Vedic Temple

Atlanta, GA, October 21, 2022: On a balmy October evening, at the Greater Atlanta Vedic temple in Lilburn, the biggest Ravan in town came towering up, only to be consigned to flames minutes later.

He was so handsome that he deserved the full attention of the large crowd who posed with him for selfies. The program was flagged off by tasteful classical dance and the young emcees kept the audience engaged.

Amidst drum beat and music, real youth dressed up as Ram and Sita came to the greens while temple volunteer Shree Vohra dressed as an impressive Ravan roared onto the scene as the audience cheered.

Moments later, the effigy was kindled amid vedic chants, as people were reminded by Acharya Amol Kumar of the real significance of Ravan dahan, which is to cleanse ourselves of impurities.

The audience enjoyed mouth watering fresh hot dosas and chole bhature by Biryani Pot and dispersed, taking home unforgettable memories.

This annual event is a “must not miss ” Atlanta happening, made possible by dedicated volunteers of the greater Atlanta Vedic temple.
