Kim Kardashian’s Billion-Dollar SKIMS Brand Comes to India

NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT

Mumbai/Los Angeles, August 5: Global shapewear and loungewear brand SKIMS, co-founded by Kim Kardashian and Jens Grede, is set to enter the Indian market through an exclusive partnership with Reliance Brands Limited (RBL), with its first stores scheduled to open in Delhi and Mumbai.

The announcement, made jointly by SKIMS and RBL on August 5, marks the brand’s official debut in India and its first major retail expansion into one of the world’s fastest-growing premium consumer markets. Reliance Brands will operate SKIMS across both physical stores and digital channels, with a phased rollout planned across additional cities over time.

Founded in 2019, SKIMS has built a global reputation for its shapewear, underwear, and loungewear designed around comfort, inclusivity, and a wide range of body types. The company has since expanded into menswear and the NikeSKIMS collaboration, becoming one of the fastest-growing brands in the fashion industry.

The India launch follows SKIMS’ recent flagship store openings in London and Dubai, with additional expansions planned for Hong Kong and Seoul as part of the company’s global retail strategy.

“SKIMS has changed how the world thinks about shape, comfort and inclusivity, and it speaks directly to a new generation of Indian consumers who want fashion that is both aspirational and made for them,” said Isha Ambani, Director of Reliance Retail Ventures Limited. “We are proud to introduce SKIMS to India and to build it here for the long term.”

Kim Kardashian, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of SKIMS, said the company has seen strong interest from Indian consumers.

“We built SKIMS on the belief that everybody deserves to feel comfortable and confident in what they wear,” Kardashian said. “The excitement we’ve seen from our community in India has been truly incredible, and we can’t wait to welcome them in our stores for the very first time.”

Jens Grede, SKIMS’ Co-Founder and CEO, said Reliance Brands’ experience in introducing international fashion labels to India made it the ideal partner for the expansion.

“Reliance Brands has an exceptional track record of building some of the world’s leading fashion and lifestyle brands in India,” Grede said. “We’re excited to partner with their team as we introduce SKIMS to this important market and continue expanding our global retail footprint.”

Reliance Brands Limited, a subsidiary of Reliance Retail Ventures Limited, has been bringing international fashion and lifestyle brands to India since 2007. Its portfolio includes luxury and premium labels such as Armani Exchange, Balenciaga, Burberry, Coach, Jimmy Choo, Michael Kors, Tiffany & Co., Valentino, Versace, and Zegna, among many others.

According to the company, Reliance Brands currently operates more than 1,855 retail doors across India through standalone stores and shop-in-shops, in addition to investments in Indian designer labels and global acquisitions such as Hamleys.
