Father Struggles to Bury 5-Year-Old Daughter Allegedly Killed by Mother

NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT

New York, October 18, 2026: An Uber driver in New York is appealing for financial help to bury his 5-year-old daughter, who was allegedly killed by her mother at their Queens home last week.

Kuldeep Singh, 36, said he cannot afford the funeral and cemetery expenses for his daughter, Fabiana Cabello, who was found unconscious and severely injured at a residence in South Richmond Hill on Wednesday, October 14. The child’s mother, Francis Cabello, 32, has been charged with murder.

“The funeral home and cemetery are asking for a deposit, and I do not have the money for it,” Singh wrote on a GoFundMe page created to raise money for his daughter’s funeral.

Police responded to a 911 call at a home on 110th Street shortly before 7 p.m. on October 14. According to investigators, Francis Cabello allegedly called emergency services and told the dispatcher, “I killed my daughter.”

Responding officers found Fabiana unconscious and unresponsive in an upstairs bedroom, with blood around her nose and mouth. She was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Francis Cabello was arrested the following day and charged with murder. She appeared in Queens Criminal Court on October 16 and was ordered held without bail.

According to the criminal complaint, the medical examiner documented abrasions on Fabiana’s face and petechiae, or tiny areas of bleeding, involving her eyes, heart and lungs. Prosecutors said the findings were consistent with possible asphyxia, suggesting the child may have been suffocated or strangled. The official cause of death had not been finalized in the latest available reports.

For Singh, who lived separately from Fabiana and her mother, the tragedy has been devastating.

Speaking to reporters, he recalled seeing his daughter about two weeks before her death. During that visit, he said, Fabiana had showered him with kisses and affection.

The little girl had recently started kindergarten. Singh remembered buying her school supplies, including a pink backpack she had wanted.

He also told reporters that he had never suspected Fabiana was in danger with her mother. According to Singh, Francis had appeared attentive to their daughter and frequently checked on her when the child was staying with him.

In his online fundraising appeal, he said his grief has made it difficult to continue working as an Uber driver. He launched the campaign on October 16 to seek assistance with funeral home and cemetery deposits.

The GoFundMe campaign had raised approximately $6,175 toward a $7,000 goal as of October 18.

Meanwhile, questions have emerged about Francis Cabello’s mental health history and previous police visits to the family home.

Fabiana’s maternal grandfather, Franklin Cabello, told reporters that his daughter had a history of psychiatric problems, had recently been hospitalized and had stopped taking prescribed medication.

According to the New York Post, police had previously responded to the residence following a suspected child abuse report in April 2025. That report was deemed unfounded. Officers also responded to a mental health-related incident in May 2026.

It remains unclear whether child protective services had any ongoing involvement with the family or whether authorities had identified any immediate danger to Fabiana before her death.

Francis Cabello remains in custody as the criminal case proceeds.

His fundraising appeal, titled Funeral Support for My Daughter, is available on GoFundMe.
