Grand Musical Tribute to Late Gaurang Vyas by the International Gujarati Cultural Society of Atlanta

Atlanta, GA, October 13, 2026: Dedicated to keeping the Gujarati language and culture vibrant in America, the International Gujarati Cultural Society of Atlanta (IGCSA) recently hosted a spectacular musical event to pay tribute to the late, eminent Gujarati music composer, Shri Gaurang Vyas. The program, titled “Saat Surona Sarname – Mukaam Post – Gaurang Vyas,” took place on October 3 in Atlanta, drawing an audience of more than 120 enthusiastic listeners.

Active since 2022, the IGCSA organization is set to enter its fifth year in 2026. The organization has successfully hosted numerous events, including the Gujarati Film Festival, ‘The Lavari Show’, ‘Welcome Zindagi’, and ‘Bhajan Jamming’. This event marked the first overseas musical tribute dedicated to Late Gaurang Vyas, a maestro who immortalized over 100 films, countless garbas, and devotional songs with his music.

Gathering of Local Artists and Honoring Young Talents The most special aspect of this three-hour program was that all participating singers and musicians were local Atlanta artists. The main attraction was two child singers under the age of 18, Kumari Garima Shah and Kumari Zeel Ranpara. Garima Shah opened the program with the song “Tame Man Mukine Varasya”. Despite not knowing the Gujarati script, her grasp of Gaurangbhai’s melody was remarkable. Kumari Zeel Ranpara brought tears to everyone’s eyes with her rendition of “Dikari To Parki Thapan Kahevay”. To encourage these young talents, Dr. Vijay Patel from Tampa, Florida, gifted $51 to both singers, and Shri Dineshbhai of the Shivkrupa Trust awarded $501 to each of the two girls.

A Melodious Extravaganza The musical program was organized under the leadership of Shri Ankur Joshi. He mesmerized the audience with his performances of “Saat Surona Sarname” and “Hu Amdavadno Rickshawalo” (complete with yodeling). Dr. Monal Shah sang “Hu to Gaiti Mele,” while Parul Sevak presented “Nahi Melu, Tara Faliyama”. Mita Mehta, alongside Sonam Shah, beautifully rendered “Haju Rashbhar Raat To Baki Rahi Gai”. Additionally, the vocals of Sonam Shah, Falguniben, and Meghaviben left the listeners deeply moved. Shri Sanjay Patel provided excellent accompaniment on the tabla and dhol. At the finale, all artists and the audience sang “Hutu Tu Tu… Jami Ramatni…” together. Shri Nimish Sevak smoothly hosted the entire program.

This special event also featured video messages sent from Gujarat by renowned poet Shri Ankit Trivedi, Padma Shri Tushar Shukla, singer Shri Prahar Vora, and Smt. Vibhaben.

Organization and Support The seed of thought for this event was planted by Atlanta’s cultural ambassador, Mustafa Ajmeri. IGCSA President Jatin Shah, Chaula Zaveri Shah, and their team realized this dream in a short span of just 20 days. The event was successfully held in a banquet hall thanks to the support of Rajivbhai Goswami of the Best Western Hotel. Social media promotion was handled by Bhushan Mehta, photography and videography by Sagar Shah and Malay Desai of Parijaat Photography, and registration by Umesh Shah and Snehal Shah. Shri Salil Mehta from Ahmedabad provided guidance in preparing the concept and outline of the program.
