Marietta, GA, July 22, 2024: Metro Montage XXIV presented by the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art has returned to Cobb County from July 6 until September 8, 2024. This year’s exhibition marks the 24th annual juried showcase, featuring a wide array of genres, mediums, styles, subjects, concepts, and techniques in art from across the country. Among the highlights is the celebrated artwork, “Place for Meditation” by the well-known Atlanta-based artist Mohan Lal Sharma.
Selected from over 1,000 submissions, the diverse works displayed in Metro Montage XXIV offer a rich cultural tapestry and artistic prowess present in our nation. Notably, almost 90% of the exhibited pieces this year are from Georgia-based artists, reflecting the vibrant local art scene.
Mohan Lal Sharma, born in 1935 in India, has an illustrious background in the arts. Trained by his father, a distinguished painter of religious art and royal portraits in Jodhpur, and under the tutelage of the famed artist A.H. Muller, Sharma honed his craft over many years. He holds several prestigious art qualifications, including an art diploma from the Rajasthan School of Art in Jaipur and credentials from the Royal Drawing Society in London, England.
Throughout his career, Sharma’s work has been showcased in numerous exhibitions, earning him various accolades. His leadership roles in the art community are notable, including positions on the Executive Committee and Recognition, Grants, and Scholarship Committee of the Rajasthan Lalit Kala Akademi, and memberships in the General Council and Kala Mela Committee of the Lalit Kala Akademi in New Delhi. He is also the president of the Jodhpur Kalakar Parishad. Sharma’s paintings are prized by the Royal Families of Jodhpur, Jaipur, and Rajkot, and he is listed in “Who’s Who in International Art.”
In Atlanta, Sharma’s art is available through SFA Gallery & Framing, an establishment run by his son, Vinod Sharma, a well-known photographer with SFA Productions.
The Metro Montage exhibition is open to the public at the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art, located at 30 Atlanta Street Southeast. The museum’s hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, and 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
