NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT
Ariana Grande appeared on Wicked: Part Two promotions on NBC in a custom Rahul Mishra couture look that pays direct tribute to the Emerald City. The ensemble, created in collaboration with stylist Law Roach, demonstrates the designer’s signature focus on handwork and architectural embroidery.
The dress features thousands of emerald sequins, glass beads, and metallic threads arranged to resemble the surreal skyline of Oz. Mishra’s atelier approached the construction almost structurally, using embroidery techniques to create depth, dimension, and a cityscape effect across the fabric.
A notable design detail is the transition from deep emerald green to soft pink—an intentional reference to Glinda’s duality in the Wicked narrative. According to Mishra, the palette shift represents a meeting of contrasts: opulence and innocence, grandeur and gentleness.

The designer notes that artisans in his workshop executed the piece through meticulous handwork, treating each stitch as part of a larger visual composition. “This piece is a dialogue between imagination and hand—between the fantasy world of Wicked and the very real magic our artisans create every day,” Mishra said.
The look continues Mishra’s tradition of translating fantastical themes into couture craftsmanship, using embroidery not just for decoration but as a storytelling medium.
