Nita Ambani Cultural Centre to Host India-Themed Cultural Weekend at Lincoln Center in NYC

NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT

New York City, NY, May 22, 2025: The Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) will debut its first international event this fall with a three-day cultural weekend at Lincoln Center in New York City, from September 12 to 14, 2025. The event, designed to showcase India’s rich artistic heritage, marks a significant step in the centre’s mission to promote Indian culture on the global stage.

Announced by NMACC founder and Reliance Foundation chairperson Nita Ambani earlier this year at the Harvard India Conference, the cultural weekend will feature a series of immersive events including performances, exhibitions, workshops and fashion presentations. The highlight of the weekend is Civilization to Nation, a theatrical production that narrates India’s evolution from ancient times to the modern era. The performance will bring together more than 350 artists and a 55-piece live orchestra, blending music, dance, drama and visual storytelling.

In addition to the theatrical show, the event will include a special fashion showcase titled Swadesh, curated by designer Manish Malhotra. The presentation will spotlight Indian textile traditions, featuring both traditional and contemporary designs that pay tribute to the craftsmanship of Indian artisans.

Beyond the stage, the Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park will be transformed into a cultural fairground, offering yoga sessions, Bollywood dance workshops, cricket-themed discussions, and an Indian market experience. The goal, organizers say, is to provide audiences with an authentic and interactive introduction to Indian culture.

Tickets for the NMACC Cultural Weekend are expected to go on sale by the end of June. The event is part of a broader effort by the Mumbai-based cultural centre to support and promote Indian arts globally, following its successful launch in 2023.
