Indian woman arrested for duping US-based techie using fake profile on matrimonial website

Atlanta, GA, June 19, 2019: A Hyderabad woman was arrested by the city crime branch for cheating a US-based tech professional on the pretext of marriage.

According to Indian media reports, the 30-year-old woman, Koram Archana, allegedly contacted US resident Pavan Kumar on a matrimonial website. Using a fake profile, Archana claimed to be an employee of Cisco and told Kumar she was planning to move to West Palm Beach, Florida through an intra company transfer.

She asked Kumar to pay $2,900 for her moving expenses. After Kumar transferred the money, he reportedly did not hear from her again. His calls to her went unanswered.

Kumar then lodged a complaint with the local police. Archana was soon arrested.

Archana lived in a hostel in the Begumpet area of Hyderabad, and is a native of Nellore.

She has reportedly been arrested before for duping other non-resident Indian men.
