Indian parents sent back from US airport because they did not have return tickets

NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT

Newark, NJ, January 29, 2025: A visiting Indian couple was denied entry into the United States at Newark Liberty International Airport after immigration officials found they did not have a return ticket. The couple, traveling on B-1/B-2 visitor visas, had planned to stay for five months with their children in the U.S. but was sent back to India directly from the airport.

According to reports, the couple was informed that under newly enforced immigration regulations, a return ticket is now mandatory for entry into the U.S. on visitor visas. However, there was no prior official announcement regarding this requirement, leading to confusion and concern among travelers.

Immigration experts are now advising travelers to ensure they have all necessary documentation, including proof of return travel, to avoid being turned away at the border. With evolving U.S. immigration rules, visitors are urged to stay updated on entry requirements before planning their trips.

For more information, travelers can refer to official U.S. government sources or consult immigration attorneys to clarify visa requirements.
