Gangothri Foods Recalls Ready-To-Eat Goat, Chicken Pickles Sold Nationwide Over Lack of USDA Inspection

NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT

Washington, DC, August 20, 2026: An Austin, Texas-based food company is recalling approximately 1,626 pounds of ready-to-eat goat and chicken pickle products that were produced without federal inspection, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Indus Foods LLC, doing business as Gangothri Foods, issued the recall for four varieties of meat pickles distributed nationwide to restaurants, retailers and distributors, as well as sold directly to consumers online.

The recalled products, sold in 8-ounce glass jars, include Gangothri Goat Pickle, Gangothri Gongura Goat Pickle, Gangothri Chicken Pickle and Gangothri Gongura Chicken Pickle.

The products were manufactured between Jan. 28, 2025, and May 6, 2026, and have a two-year shelf life. They do not carry a USDA mark of inspection.

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said the problem was discovered during routine surveillance activities. The agency determined that the ready-to-eat meat and poultry products had been produced without the benefit of federal inspection.

The recall has been classified as Class I, the agency’s highest health-risk classification. However, there have been no confirmed reports of illness linked to consumption of the products. The recall notice does not identify a specific pathogen or contaminant in the food.

Because the products have a two-year shelf life, FSIS said it is concerned that some jars may still be in consumers’ homes or on restaurant, retailer and distributor shelves.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled products are advised not to eat them. Restaurants, retailers and distributors should not sell or serve them. The products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

FSIS said retail distribution lists will be posted on its website when they become available.
