Arson Suspect Sought in Elmont Case, Reward Offered

Elmont, NY, April 22, 2026: The Nassau County Police Department has issued a public alert seeking information on Supreet Mangat, a 30-year-old Elmont resident wanted on an open felony bench warrant for second-degree arson.

According to a social media post by the department, Mangat is described as a 6-foot-6-inch tall male, weighing approximately 260 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. His last known address is listed as Lehrer Avenue in Elmont.

Police said the warrant stems from a prior incident in which Mangat was arrested following a disturbance at a residence in Elmont late on the night of September 19. Detectives from the Arson Bomb Squad said a 26-year-old woman, who was not home at the time, was alerted by a housemate who reported hearing screaming from the victim’s room.

Authorities said the woman then initiated a FaceTime call with Mangat and observed him behaving erratically and causing damage inside the residence, including setting a chair on fire.

Responding officers from the Fifth Precinct arrived at the scene and found Mangat continuing to damage property. He was taken into custody without incident and later transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of minor lacerations. No other injuries were reported.

Mangat was charged with second-degree arson, third-degree criminal mischief, and second-degree reckless endangerment. His arraignment had been scheduled at First District Court in Hempstead.

Police did not immediately clarify the circumstances that led to the issuance of the current bench warrant.

The Nassau County Police Department is urging anyone with information regarding Mangat’s whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS (8477) or submit tips through its website. Callers can remain anonymous, and a reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
