Synchrony Bets Big on Hyderabad with Largest Global Experience Center

NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT

HYDERABAD — U.S.-based consumer financial services company Synchrony has inaugurated its largest global Experience Center and a reimagined Innovation Station at its Hyderabad campus, reinforcing India’s growing role as a hub for technology, artificial intelligence, and product innovation.

The nearly 6,000-square-foot facility is Synchrony’s third Experience Center worldwide, following two in the United States. Designed to serve the company’s more than 6,000 employees in India, the center will also provide customers and business partners with an immersive environment to explore Synchrony’s products, technologies, and customer experiences.

The Experience Center features interactive customer journeys, virtual reality demonstrations, and real-world business use cases that showcase how Synchrony’s financial products are developed and delivered across sectors including health and wellness, home and auto, lifestyle financing, digital banking, and consumer lending.

Synchrony Chief Technology Officer Florin Arghirescu said the new facilities are intended to foster collaboration and accelerate innovation.

“Together, these facilities create an environment where our teams can collaborate across disciplines, explore emerging technologies and transform ideas into meaningful business outcomes,” Arghirescu said.

The company also unveiled a redesigned Innovation Station, a collaborative workspace where employees can experiment with emerging technologies, build prototypes, participate in hackathons, and develop AI-driven solutions.

Rachana Bahadur, Synchrony’s Country Head for India, said the Experience Center was created to help employees better understand the people they serve.

“The Experience Center is designed for our colleagues to better understand the customers we serve, see the impact of the work they do every day, and come together to learn, connect, collaborate and innovate,” Bahadur said.

The launch reflects Synchrony’s expanding investment in India, where its workforce contributes across artificial intelligence, cloud engineering, cybersecurity, analytics, digital product development, operations, marketing, and risk management. While the company has regional offices in Bengaluru, Pune, Delhi NCR, and Kolkata, Hyderabad remains its largest technology hub.

Synchrony, headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut, is one of the largest consumer financial services companies in the United States. It partners with hundreds of retailers, healthcare providers, and other businesses to offer store credit cards, installment financing, consumer banking products, and payment solutions, serving more than 70 million customers and over 400,000 businesses.

The new Hyderabad facility also highlights a broader trend among multinational corporations expanding their Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India. Increasingly, these centers are leading product development, AI research, and innovation for global markets rather than serving solely as offshore support operations.

For India’s technology workforce, the investment underscores Hyderabad’s emergence as one of the world’s leading destinations for high-value engineering and innovation, with global companies continuing to expand strategic operations in the city.
