A Platform for Meaningful Conversations
The program featured a diverse lineup of speakers who addressed critical issues shaping women’s lives today, from health and wellness to social justice and financial independence
The program was organized into three focused panel discussions, each addressing key challenges facing women today.

The first panel featured Dave McCleary and Veena Rao, who addressed the urgent and often interconnected issues of human trafficking and domestic violence.
McCleary, founder of EndHTNow emphasized that trafficking is not a distant issue but one that exists in everyday environments, often concealed through manipulation rather than force. He urged attendees to recognize warning signs such as restricted communication and behavioral changes, stressing that awareness is the first step toward prevention.
He called for collective responsibility, highlighting that schools, healthcare providers, nonprofits, and community members all play a role in identifying and addressing trafficking. His message was clear: education, vigilance, and collaboration can save lives.
Rao, author of Purple Lotus and editor-in-chief of NRI Pulse, delivered a powerful perspective on domestic violence, particularly within immigrant communities. She highlighted how victims often face legal, financial, and cultural barriers that prevent them from seeking help. “Abuse is often seen as a private matter,” she noted, calling on communities to replace silence with support and empathy. Emphasizing collective responsibility, she reminded the audience that “sisterhood is power.”

The second panel brought together Aparna Sharma and Dr. Kerry-Ann Mitchell, focusing on women’s health, wellness, and active living.
Sharma spoke about the importance of prioritizing physical and mental well-being, encouraging women to build sustainable habits and “make health non-negotiable.” Drawing from her experience as an endurance athlete and corporate leader, she emphasized consistency over intensity and the importance of showing up for oneself daily.
Dr. Mitchell introduced the audience to the field of neuroplastic and reconstructive surgery, explaining how it restores not only physical form but also confidence and identity for patients recovering from trauma or illness. Sharing her personal journey from Jamaica to becoming a leader in her field, she underscored the importance of holistic health, encompassing mental, emotional, and physical well-being. The discussion also addressed aging, menopause, and the importance of strength training, nutrition, and preventive care.

The third panel focused on financial empowerment and long-term planning, led by Synthia Padala and included Nola Faulkner, Certified Diversity Professional, alongside community and business resource professionals.
The discussion highlighted the importance of financial literacy, estate planning, and preparing for the future, particularly as women often take on caregiving roles and tend to live longer. Faulkner emphasized the need for essential legal and financial tools such as healthcare directives and financial power of attorney, encouraging women to take proactive steps toward independence and security.
Additional insights were shared on small business development, access to local resources, and the importance of proper documentation and planning for entrepreneurs.
Global Perspectives and Community Impact

Adding an international dimension to the event, a guest speaker shared experiences from peace-building initiatives across regions including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Iraq, and the Bahamas. Her work highlighted the critical role women play in conflict resolution, humanitarian efforts, and community rebuilding, emphasizing that inclusive leadership leads to more sustainable peace.

Building Connections and Inspiring Action
Each panel concluded with a lively Q&A session, where attendees engaged directly with speakers on topics ranging from health and safety to financial planning and community advocacy. The evening also included a “Connect and Grow” networking session, fostering meaningful professional and personal connections.
