Young Software Engineer Dies in Pool Tragedy

Florida, May 11, 2026: The sudden death of Sree Veena Muddasani, a Hyderabad-born software engineer living in the United States, has left family, friends, and members of the Indian American community in mourning.

According to reports and information shared by family friends, Muddasani, 28, died in a swimming pool incident while on a trip to Florida.

Muddasani was originally from Shivapuri Colony in Lingojiguda, Karmanghat, in Hyderabad. She married Prashanth Reddy of Champapet in June 2023 before moving to the United States.

She was working remotely as a software engineer in Virginia. Publicly available professional information shows that she was employed as a Full Stack Engineer at Markel beginning in December 2024. Before that, she held software development roles with M&T Bank in New York, as well as with Quess Corp and BookMyShow in India.

According to media reports, Muddasani had traveled to Florida on May 7 to attend a gathering at a friend’s home. She later died while spending time with friends in a swimming pool.

Friends of the family have launched a fundraiser to help with funeral arrangements and the transportation of her remains from Florida to New York, and eventually to Hyderabad, where her family plans to perform her final rites.
