NFIA Condemns Trolling of India’s Foreign Secretary, Urges Respect for Public Servants

Atlanta, GA, May 15, 2025: The National Federation of Indian Associations (NFIA) has strongly condemned the online trolling of India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri following the Government of India’s recent ceasefire agreement with Pakistan.

In a press release authored by former NFIA chairman and president Dr. Subash Razdan, the organization described the online criticism as “unwarranted and senseless,” especially in light of what it called a “convincing thrashing of the adversary by India.” The NFIA emphasized that the ceasefire was a “strategic and sovereign move” intended to ensure peace, stability, and the protection of lives along the Line of Control (LoC).

“The Foreign Secretary, acting in his official capacity, has merely executed the government’s policy — a duty he is entrusted with as a senior civil servant,” the release stated. “Vilifying individuals for decisions taken at the highest levels of government is both irresponsible and detrimental to national interest.”

The NFIA asserted its full support for Secretary Misri, stating that public servants in diplomatic and national security roles must be treated with the dignity and respect their offices demand. The statement also warned that targeted trolling and personal attacks weaken public trust in democratic processes and institutions.

“Constructive dialogue and informed debate are the hallmarks of a healthy democracy,” the statement read. “However, personal attacks against individuals serving the country only serve to erode institutional integrity.”

The NFIA has called upon citizens, media outlets, and digital platforms — especially Twitter/X — to engage in civil discourse and refrain from spreading misinformation that could undermine India’s diplomatic efforts or internal unity.
