Uttar Pradesh North America Association celebrates Makar Sankranti

Atlanta, GA, February 17, 2023: Makar Sankranti, the exuberant festival that heralds the transition of the Sun into the Zodiac sign of Makar (Capricorn) and ushers in longer days, was celebrated with unparalleled fervor by the Uttar Pradesh North America Association (UPNAA).

On January 28th, 2023, the UPNAA hosted an unforgettable event at The Ashiana Banquet Hall – Global Mall, Atlanta, which saw a magnificent turnout of 350 enthusiastic participants, including dignitaries such as Congressman Dr. Rich McCormick and his wife Debra McCormick, along with special invitees representing State, County-Government and Law Enforcement agencies.

The organizing committee, led by the dynamic trio of Chairman Himanshu Karanwal, President Prakash Srivastava, and Vice President Nidhi Sharma, pulled out all the stops to make this event a resounding success. The committee also took the opportunity to recognize the outstanding contributions of various local and global social welfare organizations as a token of appreciation. The evening was replete with thrilling cultural performances, including electrifying dance and music acts by an array of talented guests, a quick quiz about the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, and a plethora of exciting kids’ activities like face painting and crafts. The delectable traditional Indian delicacies that were served at the event were an absolute treat to the taste buds of all the attendees. However, the real stars of the evening were the kids, who captivated everyone’s attention and created unforgettable memories.

In keeping with the spirit of the festival, the organizing committee of the UPNAA event also took the time to acknowledge the tireless efforts of various non-profit organizations that are dedicated to making a positive impact in the community. This included recognizing the tremendous contributions of organizations such as Sewa International, Ekal, HSS, Sprinkling Smiles, Arya Samaj and many others who are doing outstanding work in the fields of education, health, and social welfare.

The committee extended their heartfelt gratitude towards these organizations for their selfless service and for embodying the true essence of the festival.

“The event was a shining example of how the community can come together to celebrate the richness of Indian culture and the spirit of giving,” said a press release issued by UPNAA. “The cultural performances, the delectable food, and the fun activities all came together to create an unforgettable evening that brought everyone together in joy and celebration. The UPNAA event was a resounding success, and the organizing committee deserves special recognition for their tireless efforts in making it all possible. We look forward to more such events in the future, where the community can come together to celebrate, have fun, and make a positive impact on society.”
