Unity in Diversity: Afreen Khundmiri brings South Asian art and culture to Fulton County

Atlanta, GA, November 14, 2024: On November 8, artist and philanthropist Afreen Khundmiri organized the Unity in Diversity art and culture reception at the Fulton County Government Center, marking the start of a two-month art exhibition that features the work of 15 South Asian artists from metro Atlanta.

Left to Right: Sohail Illyas, Sohail Saleem,  David Manuel (Director, Fulton County Arts & Culture), Natalie Hall (Commissioner, Fulton County), Afreen Khundmiri (Organizer, Unity in Diversity), Nagina Mir, Sanaz Noori, Nahid Aziz, Fatima Ali, Hamida Madhani, Shereen Sadath, Moutushi Majid, Fizza Khalid, and Riffat Haque.

Supported in part by Fulton County Arts & Culture, the event drew distinguished guests, including Fulton County Commissioner Natalie Hall and David Manuel, Director of Fulton County Arts and Culture, spotlighting the exhibition’s impact on the local arts scene. The sold out event was historic in scale, bringing together an impressive array of talent—15 visual artists, 40 models showcasing the fashion collection of four local designers, and 10 cultural performances.

In another groundbreaking achievement, Afreen’s clothing line, Roya’Elle, made its debut in September at the prestigious Atlanta Fashion Week’s Faces of Fashion opening reception, where she became the first woman of Indian descent to present her line at this influential event. Roya’Elle is more than just a brand; it’s a tribute to her heritage, blending traditional South Asian artistry with modern design to celebrate both her Asian roots and her journey in the United States.

Through initiatives like Roya’Elle and Unity in Diversity, Afreen Khundmiri continues to inspire audiences, breaking cultural barriers and setting new standards for inclusivity in the arts.
