Thieves use pythons to distract and rob gas station

NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT

Madison County, TN, March 28, 2025: In a bizarre incident, four individuals used live pythons as a distraction while robbing a Citgo gas station off Highway 154 in Madison County, Tennessee, on March 4, 2025.

According to store employee Mayur Raval, two men and two women entered the gas station and immediately began waving the snakes around, placing them on the counter in an apparent attempt to intimidate those inside. One suspect introduced a white python first, followed by another bringing in a brown or mixed-colored snake. “They were just waving them around and putting them on the counter,” Raval recalled.

The group had strategically parked their vehicle—a small four-door sedan with a trunk secured by bungee cords—directly in front of the store entrance. After causing a scene with the reptiles, one of the suspects quickly seized approximately $400 worth of CBD oil before fleeing. Raval believes the presence of other customers in the store may have deterred the thieves from stealing additional items.

“The snake is a weapon, you know,” Raval told authorities, emphasizing how the presence of live snakes added to the intimidation factor.

Authorities have since released surveillance images of the suspects and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying them. Anyone with information is urged to contact local law enforcement.
