Atlanta, GA, September 17, 2026: A spirit of fitness, fellowship and service filled the morning as Sewa International Atlanta hosted its Annual 5K Run/Walk, drawing approximately 160 participants from across the metro Atlanta community. Runners, walkers, families, volunteers and supporters came together not simply to cross a finish line, but to support a larger mission of community service and giving back.
The annual event has become an opportunity for Sewa Atlanta to bring people together around the shared values of health, volunteerism and community engagement. This year’s race also served as a Peachtree Road Race qualifier, adding an additional attraction for serious runners while remaining welcoming to recreational walkers, families and participants of varying ages and fitness levels. The mix of competitive runners and community participants gave the morning an inclusive atmosphere, with seasoned athletes sharing the course with those simply looking to enjoy an active morning while supporting a worthy cause.
The event began with participant check-in and bib pickup as volunteers welcomed runners and helped prepare them for the race. Before participants headed to the starting line, Coach Jack led an energetic group warm-up, setting an enthusiastic tone for the morning. Coach Jack had also been conducting weekly training sessions in the weeks leading up to the 5K, helping participants build stamina, prepare for race day and stay motivated toward their fitness goals.
The event was also attended by guests of honor Diganth Dash, Global Coordinator for Yogkulam & HSS Pracharak, and Georgia State Senator Shawn Still, who represents District 48 in the Georgia State Senate. Their presence added to the community spirit of the occasion. The race was officially flagged off by Diganth Das , as participants took to the course amid cheers and encouragement from volunteers and supporters.

Whether racing for a personal best, preparing for future running events, walking alongside friends and family, or simply participating to support Sewa’s mission, the 5K offered something meaningful for everyone involved. The atmosphere throughout the morning reflected both the energy of a community fitness event and the deeper purpose behind Sewa International’s volunteer-driven work.
“We are grateful to everyone who participated, volunteered, sponsored, and supported this year’s 5K,” said Raj Radhakrishnan, President of Sewa International Atlanta. “Events like this bring our community together around wellness while also creating awareness and support for Sewa’s ongoing service initiatives.”

Behind the race was the work of Sewa Atlanta’s volunteer network, whose members handled the many details required to create a safe, organized and welcoming event. From registration and participant coordination to course support and refreshments, volunteers worked throughout the morning to ensure that runners and walkers could focus on enjoying the experience. Participants also received event T-shirts and refreshments, adding to the sense of camaraderie that continued even after they crossed the finish line.
Sewa International Atlanta also expressed its sincere appreciation to the sponsors whose support helped make the Annual 5K Run/Walk possible. The organization thanked Level Solutions Group, Assure Guru, GC Ingredients, E-Ring, Family Dentistry & Orthodontics, Srirangam, Starbucks, Concrete Jungle, Bagel Rescue, Credit Union of Georgia, Vraz Suwanee LLC, NCS Partners, and SUM TABS for supporting the event and Sewa’s broader community-focused efforts.
While fitness was at the heart of the 5K, organizers emphasized that the event was equally about introducing more people to Sewa International’s philosophy of service. The Atlanta chapter is involved in several community-focused initiatives, including programs addressing food security, education, healthcare and volunteer-driven community service. Through these efforts, Sewa seeks to mobilize volunteers and community partnerships to respond to needs both locally and beyond.

The 5K reflected that volunteer-centered approach, demonstrating how a recreational community event can also become a platform for awareness and service. Families and individuals who first connect with Sewa through an event such as the Run/Walk can also learn more about the organization’s ongoing programs and discover additional opportunities to volunteer, contribute and become involved throughout the year.
For Sewa Atlanta, the approximately 160 participants represented more than an attendance number. They reflected a community willing to devote a morning to wellness while supporting an organization centered on volunteerism and service. The involvement of sponsors, community partners, guests, volunteers and participants underscored the collaborative effort behind the annual event.

Sewa International Atlanta extended its appreciation to all participants, volunteers, sponsors, community partners, guests and supporters who contributed to the success of this year’s Annual 5K Run/Walk. The organization hopes the event will continue to encourage healthy lifestyles while strengthening connections among people who share a commitment to serving their communities.
