Scammer Impersonating Sheriff's Deputy in Forsyth County

Atlanta, GA: The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is investigating several reports of a male claiming to be a Lieutenant with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.  The male is identifying himself as Lt. Jonathan Baxley, badge number 8836, with the Warrant Unit, according to an alert on the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office website.

The male is telling the person on the phone that he has a warrant for a family member for failure to appear in court on a speeding ticket on Ga. 400. The male will usually identify the name of a family member. The male will end the conversation by telling the person that if the matter is not cleared up in 30 minutes an arrest will be made. The male also adds that this can be taken care of by paying $362.00 on the phone through a debit or credit card.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is investigating this incident. The agency has asked if anyone has been contacted by the impersonator to call the Forsyth County sheriff’s office.
