Atlanta, GA, August 22, 2021: Seva Adult Day Care inaugurated its new Senior Day Care Facility at the Global Mall in Norcross on July 30 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Mayor Craig Newton and a day-long celebration.
The adult day care center is the outcome of founder Poonam Datta’s dream of serving the seniors in her community. She carried this strong vision to create a place where seniors could come, be cared for, and just be happy.
“I have seen first-hand how challenges in the senior citizen community have affected their health and happiness,” she said.
Datta is a qualified professional with a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech. After working for multinational companies for 21 years, she decided to quit her corporate career to pursue her true dream. With a passion to serve, Datta founded Seva Adult Care in January 2017.
“When we started four years ago, we never would have imagined that we would outgrow our old facility,” Datta said. “However, this past year with the pandemic has been unimaginably tough. We were one of the first facilities to transition to telehealth. We began running five hour zoom sessions, five days a week for our seniors. We delivered groceries and ran activities virtually such as yoga, exercise, meditation, and bingo.”
“Our Seva team worked tremendously hard to keep them engaged and active while they were at home. We also helped all of our members get vaccinated. We are excited to announce that our new center at Global will be opening in person August 5th!”
Seva strives to free seniors from their adversities and bring the community together.
“Not only do we want to give back with genuine love and care, but we also want to promote wellness, healthiness, and happiness for all. Seva is a Sanskrit word that translates to “service with gratitude,” and that meaning is truly what Seva Adult Care works to provide everyday for all of our seniors,” Datta added.
Services include transportation, nutritious meals, programs & activities including yoga, meditation, exercise, field trips, music, and entertainment, wellness and health program with a full time nurse staff and home care (sending caregivers to seniors’ homes).
The adult day care strives to serve the senior citizen community or any adult who is functionally dependent, needing assistance with activities of daily living.
