Washington, DC, November 1, 2024:Controversial British-American influencer Andrew Tate is once again at the center of criticism following a racist remark aimed at popular Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh. The incident occurred after Dosanjh shared a heartwarming video from his Delhi concert, where he gifted his jacket to an emotional fan.
The video, which quickly gained traction on social media, shows Dosanjh, currently on his 2024 India Tour, handing his jacket to a visibly moved fan while her husband stood by. The gesture, celebrated by fans as a touching moment, was marred by Tate’s comment on X (formerly Twitter). Known for his history of misogynistic and inflammatory remarks, Tate commented, “Bet it stinks of curry,” referring to the jacket.
The remark sparked an outcry on social media, with many users denouncing Tate’s comment as racist and offensive. “Curry still smells better than tissue-wiped, unwashed ass. Mind your own business,” one user replied, while another wrote, “You colonized us for spices, for your food to just not have any.”
Tate, whose notoriety has grown amidst a slew of controversies, recently faced accusations of rape from two British women. The accusations come as authorities continue to investigate him for alleged involvement in sex trafficking and misconduct involving minors.
Many fans responded to Tate’s comment with a blend of humor, reproach, and calls for empathy. One Indian user invited Tate to experience traditional Indian cuisine firsthand, commenting, “Once you taste it, you’ll never say such stuff.” Another user invoked Nelson Mandela’s words on the learned nature of hate, adding, “Hope you recover from the disease of racism.”
This is not the first time Tate’s comments have attracted public outrage. However, his latest remark has further widened the divide between his supporters and detractors, with many in the Indian community demanding accountability for his actions.
