NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT
Washington, DC, May 6, 2025: The Embassy of India in Washington DC issued a press statement today, confirming that India has conducted targeted counter-terrorism strikes under Operation Sindoor in response to a brutal terror attack that killed 26 civilians in Jammu & Kashmir on April 22.
According to the Indian government, the attack was carried out by Pakistan-based terrorists. India cited credible intelligence, technical inputs, survivor testimonies, and other evidence that establish a clear link to terrorist groups operating across the border.
The statement criticized Pakistan for failing to act against the perpetrators or dismantle the terror infrastructure. “It was expected that Pakistan would take action against terrorists and the infrastructure that supports them. Instead, during the fortnight that has gone by, Pakistan has indulged in denial and made allegations of false flag operations against India,” the Embassy said.
India described its military response as “focused and precise,” emphasizing that the strikes were “measured, responsible, and non-escalatory in nature.” The operations specifically targeted known terrorist camps. No Pakistani civilian, economic, or military targets were attacked.
Following the strikes, India’s National Security Advisor, Shri Ajit Doval, spoke with U.S. National Security Advisor and Secretary of State Marco Rubio to brief him on the nature and rationale behind India’s actions.
The Embassy reiterated that India remains committed to fighting terrorism while avoiding escalation and upholding regional stability.
