Indian American engineer Vikesh Patel among victims of Washington DC plane crash

Washington DC, January 31, 2025: Vikesh Patel, an Indian American engineer at GE Aerospace, was among the victims of the recent plane crash in Washington, D.C. Patel, who had devoted over 11 years to the company, is remembered by colleagues and industry leaders for his commitment and contributions.

Larry Culp, Chairman and CEO of GE Aerospace, expressed his condolences, stating, “This is a tragedy not only for our industry but also for the GE Aerospace team. Our hearts are with his family.”

According to his LinkedIn profile, Patel was based in the DC/Baltimore area and had worked at GE’s Evendale facility in Cincinnati for at least six months in 2012 and again for at least eight months in 2014.

The crash, which occurred on January 29, 2025, involved a mid-air collision between a passenger jet and an Army aircraft, resulting in the loss of 67 lives.

Investigations are ongoing, with authorities having recovered the flight data and voice recorders from the aircraft involved. The aviation community awaits further details as officials work to determine the cause of this devastating accident.

So sad. (But the crash was jan 29. Not sure why the reporter wrote Jan 31.)
