Alpharetta GA, Sept. 16, 2026 — Former Alpharetta daycare worker Tulsi Patel, who faces multiple charges stemming from allegations that she sexually and physically abused preschool children in her care, has been offered a plea deal that would require her to serve 20 years in prison.
Patel appeared in Fulton County court Tuesday, where prosecutors said she faces a potential combined sentence of life plus 122 years if convicted on the charges against her, according to WSB-TV.
“The defendant’s total exposure would be life plus 122,” a Fulton County prosecutor told the court.
Prosecutors have offered Patel a 25-year sentence, with 20 years to be served in confinement. Under the proposed agreement, she would also be required to register as a sex offender and would not be permitted to have unsupervised contact with children.
Patel has until Nov. 1 to decide whether to accept the offer. There is currently no indication that she has agreed to the deal. If she rejects it, the case could proceed to trial later this year.
Patel faces 15 counts, including aggravated child molestation. Prosecutors said in court that aggravated child molestation carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years and a maximum of life imprisonment.
Allegations surfaced in July 2024
NRI Pulse first reported on Patel’s arrest in July 2024, after Alpharetta police arrested the then-22-year-old following an allegation involving a 4-year-old girl at the Kids ‘R’ Kids Learning Academy on Webb Bridge Road.
The child’s father said he went to pick up his daughter on July 25 and found her upset and complaining of pain. When daycare staff asked who had hurt her, the child reportedly pointed to Patel. Blood was later found in the child’s underwear, and she was taken to a hospital. Patel was arrested the following day.
Investigators subsequently reviewed surveillance footage from the daycare and identified additional alleged victims. Police later said Patel was accused of sexually and physically abusing 12 children, ages 3 and 4, during the approximately two weeks she worked at the Alpharetta center.
The investigation also raised questions about Patel’s previous employment at Cornerstone Schools in Cumming. Authorities said allegations involving Patel had previously surfaced there but were not reported to authorities. The president of Cornerstone Schools was subsequently charged with failure to report suspected abuse.
Families of several of the children later filed civil lawsuits against Patel and the daycare centers.
Patel released on bond
Patel spent approximately six months in custody before being granted bond in January 2025.
Her attorney, Mike Jacobs, said at the time that Patel had no prior criminal record and emphasized that she was presumed innocent.
“The judge made the right decision to release her pending trial,” Jacobs told WSB-TV following her release. “Tulsi is presumed innocent, has no prior record, is not a flight risk of any kind, and is not [at] any risk to obstruct justice. We look forward to our day in court to address each of these allegations that have been made against her.”
Daycare later closed
As NRI Pulse reported in March 2025, the Kids ‘R’ Kids location at 3455 Webb Bridge Road eventually closed permanently.
The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning had denied the center’s license renewal. The daycare initially sought to appeal that decision but later withdrew its request for a hearing and closed on March 7, 2025.
At the time, Kids ‘R’ Kids maintained that the Alpharetta franchise had conducted the required background and reference checks before hiring Patel and said she had passed the state-mandated background checks. The organization said the earlier allegations involving Patel at her previous employer had not been properly reported.
The criminal case against Patel has continued since then.
Tuesday’s hearing marks a significant development in the case, with prosecutors now placing a specific plea offer on the table. Patel has until Nov. 1 to decide whether to accept the proposed 25-year sentence or continue toward trial.
The charges against Patel remain allegations unless she enters a guilty plea or is convicted at trial.
