Johns Creek, GA, September 18, 2025: The Atlanta Chapter of Sewa International brought together close to 100 volunteers on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the Cauley Creek Park for a heartfelt 9/11 Commemoration and Day of Service. The event honored the lives lost in the September 11 tragedy while paying tribute to the courage and sacrifice of first responders.
The day began with a service activity, where volunteers created a memorial garden as a living tribute. Nearly 60 plants and trees were planted, mulch was spread, and river rock was laid to beautify and enhance the space. This garden now stands as a symbol of remembrance, resilience, and community unity.
Following the garden installation, the commemorative program brought the community together in reflection. The ceremony opened with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Cub Scouts Pack 109, followed by the National Anthem sung by LEAD students. Attendees were welcomed by Dr. Madhav Durbha, President of Sewa Atlanta, who emphasized the importance of honoring 9/11 through service and unity.

Mayor Pro Tem & City Council Member, Dilip Tunki of Johns Creek graced the occasion as the Guest of Honor, sharing words of encouragement and appreciation for the volunteers’ commitment. The program closed with a heartfelt vote of thanks by Raj Radhakrishnan, Vice President of Sewa Atlanta, expressing gratitude to volunteers, community partners, and supporters.
“Through service and remembrance, we honor the sacrifice of those we lost and strengthen our commitment to building a compassionate and united community,” said Radha Katta, Regional Project Manager, Sewa International.

The event was part of Sewa International’s ongoing efforts to inspire service and bring communities together. By combining meaningful action with reflection, the Atlanta Chapter created a powerful space for remembrance, and future service.
