Atlanta, GA: Seven centers and 240 kids from in and around Atlanta participated in the Math Olympiad, a fun competition for students, on May 4, 2013, at Berkmar High School on Pleasant hill road. The Olympiad was held at all of ALOHA’S 150 tutoring centers in 18 states across the US. During the Math Olympiad, children are given 50 questions to solve in 5 minutes and individual centers award trophies for winners.
Students participate with those enrolled in the same level of the program they are in, Junior (5-7 years) or Senior (8-12 years).
“ALOHA” stands for Abacus Learning of Higher Arithmetic. An Abacus is an ancient calculator tool used by sliding beads to count. ALOHA Mind Math also offers language arts, reading and writing tutoring to all grades. It was introduced in the United States in 2006.
