VFS Global begins processing of passport, OCI applications in Atlanta and 5 other US cities

Atlanta, GA, November 7, 2020: Effective 04 November 2020, Indian diaspora and other customers across the United States can submit applications for OCI, passport, renunciation of Indian citizenship, and GEP verification services, at any one of VFS Global’s centers in Atlanta, Washington DC, New York, San Francisco, Chicago, and Houston.

India visa services remain suspended due to COVID-19 restrictions. Re-start date to be announced according to directives of the Embassy of India in USA, said a press release issued by VFS.

Last month, VFS Global was appointed as the exclusive service provider for the Government of India for visa, OCI, passport, renunciation of Indian citizenship, and Global Entry Programme (GEP) verification services in the United States.

Effective 04 November 2020, the Centers will provide the following services for Indian or US citizens, and for third-country nationals: Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) applications, passport applications, renunciation of Indian citizenship and Global Entry Programme (GEP) verification services.

As part of its exclusive contract to manage visa, passport and consular services for the Government of India, VFS Global has opened India Consular Application Centres in six cities in the United States of America, namely Washington DC, New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Atlanta, and Houston.

The services are expected to benefit the over 4 million-strong Indian diaspora community in the United States, as well as customers who apply for India visas from the US. Customers can visit https://visa.vfsglobal.com/usa/en/ind for the latest information.

The United States is the 12th country where VFS Global provides passport, visa and consular services for the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. At present, VFS Global manages 44 Passport and Visa Application Centres for the Government of India in 11 countries: Australia, Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand and the United Kingdom.

The re-start date for visa services, which will also be offered at these centres, will be announced according to directives of the Embassy of India in USA, the release said.
