Atlanta, GA, June 19, 2018: Georgia resident Venakteswarlu Chukka received the award of Excellence in Community Service at the American Telugu Convention 2018 held at Irving Convention Center, Las Colinas, Dallas, Texas from May 31- June 2, 2018.

For the first time in the United States history, two Telugu national organizations, American Telugu Association (ATA) & American Telangana Telugu Association (T.A.T.A), conducted this great event together representing the motto of service, culture, and integrity.

Chukka hails from Warangal district. He is the founder of Manochetana Cheriyal a nonprofit, noncommercial, and non-political social development organization working for the welfare of persons with disabilities since 1998 in rural parts of Warangal district.

Chukka takes care of children with special needs by providing quality education based on their needs for adults he provides services by tapping government schemes such as getting Nirmaya health cards, his dreams to get Nirmaya health cards for all special needs population all over Telangana.

For the past 20 years, Manochetana has successfully conducted Awareness Generation Programs, multipurpose medical & rehabilitation health camps, disability screening camps, special schools for children with intellectual special needs, vocational training centers, and provided aids and appliances to the persons with various disabilities. He has received numerous awards and felicitations from state & union governments and other affiliated organizations. One among these various distinguished awards, is the National award for Best Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) 2011 from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, of the Government of India,

Chukka has unique ideas in empowering people with disabilities; he has created a vocational training program on job training, and job skills program at his organization.

So far, this organization has provided services to persons with disabilities from early identification to empowerment. Behind every successful organization, there is someone. In every organization, there are volunteers, donors, philanthropists, well-wishers, friends, and family friends. Without their help, the  organizations would not have been successful. He, himself, has seen ups and downs in running an organization- paying salaries to trained professionals and the upkeep of infrastructure. Since grants given by both state and central governments and other sources are very bleak, Chukka has the vision to expand the services in the neighboring districts of Warangal.

If donors and philanthropists come forward to provide support Manochetana, the organization could go further in its effort to provide special needs services. The award of Excellent Community Service given to Chukka is a recognition of his services to the disabled population, and he will not stop here. He would like to move on expanding the reach of his service, and he needs your help to support his vision, said a press release issued to NRI Pulse.
