NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT
San Diego, CA, April 9, 2025: In a lighthearted moment, Usha Vance, wife of Vice President JD Vance, charmed audiences with her candid and humorous response to a question about fitting in among the stereotypical “blondes and Botox” often associated with Republican political circles.
According to a report by the New York Post, when asked how she feels about navigating those spaces, Usha laughed and said, “I’m laughing, because it would be really hard for me to be blonde… that color would look totally absurd.”
Vance, who is the nation’s first Hindu second lady, has chosen to embrace her natural appearance rather than conform to political aesthetics. “The reception I’ve gotten in Republican circles has been so overwhelmingly positive,” she added. “People don’t seem to care what I wear, what I look like.”
Vance made her remarks during an interview with The Times of London. The interview covered various aspects of her life, including her transition from a legal career to public life, her experiences as the first Hindu second lady, and her role as a confidante to her husband, Vice President JD Vance.
Born to Indian immigrant parents and raised in a Hindu household in San Diego, Usha Vance has an impressive background. A Yale Law School graduate and a Gates Cambridge Scholar, she met JD Vance during law school. The couple now has three young children and, despite the demands of public life, Usha is focused on maintaining normalcy for their family.
