New Delhi, India, April 15, 2026: U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor on Tuesday announced the launch of the United States’ “Freedom250” celebrations in India, marking the lead-up to America’s 250th year of independence.
In a post on X, Gor said he was “thrilled to kick off the #Freedom250 celebrations from New Delhi,” highlighting a promotional campaign featuring auto-rickshaws adorned with images of Donald Trump and other iconic American symbols.
The ambassador said the customized vehicles will travel across the Indian capital as part of a broader public outreach effort, aimed at building awareness around the historic milestone. The initiative is expected to expand to other cities across India in the coming months.

Gor also emphasized the significance of the moment for bilateral ties, noting that the celebrations would “honor the strength and dynamism of the U.S.-India partnership.”
The “Freedom250” campaign refers to the 250th anniversary of American independence in 2026, a milestone the U.S. government plans to commemorate through a series of domestic and international events.
Further details about events and activities under the India leg of the campaign are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
