DeKalb County, GA, August 14, 2026 — Six people were arrested after a traffic stop in DeKalb County led authorities to hundreds of pounds of suspected marijuana and eventually to a storage facility containing about 1,200 boxes of suspected illegal drug products, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation began Aug. 4 when sheriff’s deputies stopped a van and discovered approximately 220 to 250 pounds of suspected marijuana inside, authorities said.
The discovery prompted a broader investigation that led deputies to a storage facility in DeKalb County. Investigators obtained and executed a search warrant at the facility, where they found approximately 1,200 additional boxes containing suspected marijuana products, synthetic THC and psilocybin mushrooms.
Authorities said more than $40,000 in cash was also seized. The suspected marijuana recovered during the investigation had an estimated street value exceeding $2.8 million, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Six people were taken into custody without incident: Safin T. Rajwani, Aadil Samnani, Nooruddin T. Rajwani, Salim Vadsaria, Raheen S. Dadani and Piyush Vadasariya.
Rajwani, Samnani, Nooruddin Rajwani and Vadsaria were charged with trafficking marijuana under the Georgia Controlled Substances Act.
Dadani was charged with possession of marijuana, while Vadasariya was charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance.
Local media reported that Safin Rajwani, Nooruddin Rajwani, Samnani and Vadsaria remained in the DeKalb County Jail as of Aug. 13. Dadani and Vadasariya had been released on bond.
Authorities have not publicly disclosed what prompted the original traffic stop, the precise location where the van was stopped or how investigators connected the vehicle to the storage facility.
The Sheriff’s Office also has not publicly identified who rented or controlled the storage facility or where investigators believe the seized products were headed.
No verified information released by authorities establishes the nationality or immigration status of any of the six defendants.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
The charges are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
