190 Young Artists Turn Memories Into Masterpieces at Kala the Art Showcase

NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT

Cumming, GA, May 22, 2026 — Memories, emotions, and moments from the past came alive through paint and canvas as Kala the Art hosted its annual art showcase, drawing a record crowd and highlighting the creativity of nearly 200 artists.

Led by founder Kathy Pinnika, this year’s showcase featured artwork from 190 artists ages 5 and older at Fortius Sports Academy and AnTeRa Bar and Grill. The exhibition centered on the theme “Journey Through Time,” inviting artists to reflect on nostalgic and meaningful moments from their lives and transform those experiences into visual stories.

Adding an extra creative challenge, participants worked within a strict black-and-white color palette. The limitation encouraged artists to focus on mood, expression, and storytelling, resulting in acrylic paintings that conveyed a wide range of emotions, relationships, and life experiences.

The showcase became a visual journey through memories, with pieces ranging from personal reflections and family moments to depictions of action and human connection.

Organizers said the event drew a record attendance of approximately 400 visitors, who viewed the artwork and offered words of encouragement and praise to the young artists. The positive response helped boost the participants’ confidence and celebrate their creative efforts.

The event also carried a charitable purpose. Through a “paint for a cause” initiative, artists helped raise funds for B.A.D.G.E., a nonprofit organization that supports first responders, including the Sheriff’s Office, Fire Department, Cumming Police Department, and 911/EMA Center. The organization works to assist and restore hope for those who serve and protect the public when they face unexpected hardships.

Organizers credited the success of the event to the support of sponsors and community partners, including Neelima Gadamanagu, Anil Kolli, Radhakanth Swayampakula, AnTeRa, Fortius Sports Academy, Bindu Gopalam, Suchi Assurance, Sucharitha Akula, Sudha Reddy, RP Elite Decor, Ramya Paruchuri, Ashish Doshi, and Moh Jewels, along with collaborations with SSS Charity and Sri Krishna Vilas.

Beyond displaying artistic talent, the showcase highlighted the role art can play in building confidence, preserving memories, and bringing communities together through creativity and service.
