Nike Launches Global Collection Celebrating Indian Textile Traditions

Nike has launched a striking new global collection in collaboration with Indian design collective NorBlack NorWhite, blending high-performance sportswear with the rich visual language of Indian textile craft. Released on June 11, the Nike x NorBlack NorWhite line includes vibrant apparel, footwear, and a cross-body bag — all infused with the centuries-old Indian art of bandhani.

The collection is designed to invite more women into the world of sport by offering comfort, cultural relevance, and style. In doing so, it reframes athleticwear as not just functional, but also expressive of identity and heritage.

At the heart of the collaboration is bandhani, a traditional Indian tie-dye technique known for its intricate patterns and vivid colors. Nike and NorBlack NorWhite have adapted this technique into modern silhouettes — hoodies, tanks, cropped tees, sports bras, shorts, and leggings — that move with women through every part of their day, whether working out or relaxing.

The footwear offering includes four popular Nike silhouettes — the Air Max Craze, Motiva, Pegasus 41, and Calm slide — each reimagined with colorful accents inspired by bandhani motifs. The accessories line is rounded out with a cross-body bag that complements the vibrant apparel and finishes off any ensemble.

The campaign features prominent Indian women athletes including wrestler Anshu Malik, sprinter Priya Mohan, and cricketers Jemimah Rodrigues and Shafali Verma — each representing strength, movement, and bold self-expression.

“This collection shines a light on the rigor, dedication and ancestral knowledge rooted in Indian culture,” said Mriga Kapadiya, co-founder of NorBlack NorWhite. Her creative partner, Amrit Kumar, added, “We want women to feel cool and collected, to own their hues and their journey — because we, as women, aren’t here to play.”

Rodrigues, speaking about the significance of the collaboration, noted, “Wearing Nike that’s laced with Indian culture is a flex. It’s bold, rooted, and ours.”

With this launch, Nike extends NorBlack NorWhite’s mission of celebrating Indian craftsmanship to a global audience — bringing cultural stories to the center of performance fashion, and redefining what it means to move with purpose and pride.
