NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT
New York, NY, May 16, 2025: Four-time National Award-winning actor and Indian Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut is all set to make her Hollywood debut as the lead in Blessed Be the Evil, a horror drama that will begin filming in New York this summer.
The film is directed by Anurag Rudra, known for his acclaimed documentary Tailing Pond. Rudra also co-wrote the screenplay with Gatha Tiwary, founder and president of Lions Movies, the studio backing the project.
Blessed Be the Evil follows the story of a Christian couple who, reeling from the trauma of a miscarriage, move to a seemingly idyllic abandoned farmhouse in rural America to start afresh. However, the couple is soon confronted with sinister forces that challenge their love, faith, and sanity.
Joining Ranaut in the cast are Tyler Posey of Teen Wolf fame and Scarlet Rose Stallone, daughter of Hollywood icon Sylvester Stallone. The film’s diverse ensemble and gripping plot have already generated buzz across both Indian and international film circuits.
Interestingly, the film will be entirely shot in the United States. Producers cited strategic reasons for this choice, noting that filming domestically helps the production sidestep potential disruptions caused by recently reinstated Trump-era industry tariffs targeting international productions.
Lions Movies plans to showcase Blessed Be the Evil to global buyers at the 2025 Cannes Film Market, marking an important step in securing international distribution and visibility for the project.
