Stockbridge, GA, July 24, 2026: The Subra, Anu and Kiran Bhat Foundation celebrated its commitment to education and community service by awarding scholarships to six high school students during its annual scholarship event on July 19, 2026, at Eagle’s Landing Country Club in Stockbridge.
More than 100 community members attended the program, which highlighted the foundation’s continuing efforts to support students pursuing higher education.
Established in 2019, the Bhat Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing education, healthcare, cultural initiatives and other community-focused causes. Over the past several years, the foundation has supported numerous philanthropic and nonprofit organizations in the United States and India.
Three graduating seniors from the Henry County school system received the Anu and Subra Bhat Henry County Scholarships. The scholarships support students who plan to pursue college education and careers in medicine or related healthcare fields. The recipients included Hailey Jinks, Nyique Hurdle and Micah Wilson.
Three additional scholarships were presented to students from the Karnataka community through Nrupathunga Kannada Koota. Siddanth Rohit, Dhruva Raghavendra and Sinchana Santosh received the Late Shankari and Late Narasimhaiya Muteri Scholarships, established in memory of Dr. Anu Bhat’s parents.
Dr. Anu Bhat said the foundation considers education an important pathway to long-term individual and community progress. She emphasized that supporting motivated young people is central to the foundation’s mission and expressed hope that the scholarships would help recipients pursue their academic and professional goals while inspiring them to serve others in the future.
Scholarship applications were reviewed by a panel of educators, physicians and community leaders. The judges included Georgia Tech Professor Shreyes Melkote; Michael Little, associate vice president at Clayton State University; Dr. Jacob Chacko, dean of the College of Business at Clayton State University; and Jason Jones, executive director of the Georgia Composite Medical Board.
The Consul General of India in Atlanta, Ramesh Babu Lakshmanan, was invited as the chief guest but was unable to attend. A message from the consul general was read at the event by Shylaja Prashanth.
In addition to its scholarships for high school students, the Bhat Foundation provides annual endowed scholarships for students at Clayton State University and supports fellows at Emory University.
Foundation representatives said the organization plans to continue expanding its educational, healthcare and philanthropic initiatives while supporting community organizations and important causes locally and globally.
The annual scholarship program reflected the foundation’s broader goal of creating opportunities through education and encouraging the next generation of students to contribute meaningfully to their professions and communities.
