Atlanta Overseas Friends of BJP celebrate Modi’s victory and third swearing-in

Atlanta, GA, June 16, 2024: In a jubilant atmosphere filled with cheers and applause, the Atlanta chapter of the Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP-USA) and supporters of Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated the victory of the BJP-led NDA coalition in the recent general elections. The celebration took place at Global Mall, Norcross, on June 9. Among the attendees were N. Sri Ramchandra Rao, former MLC, and Rakesh Reddy, current MLA from BJP of Telangana State, India. Their inspiring speeches captivated the audience. Both leaders were in Atlanta for the American Telugu Association (ATA) conference.

The celebration coincided with the swearing-in ceremony of Modi as Prime Minister of India for a third term, the first time in over 60 years, and the victory of the Indian team in the T20 World Cup 2024 held in New York. The event commenced with patriotic songs and dance performances by students of Nritya Natya Kala Bharati. Vasudev Patel, a prominent leader of OFBJP-USA, welcomed the gathering, stating that Modi’s victory is a historic occasion and a proud moment for everyone. He highlighted that the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) coalition, led by Prime Minister Modi, was re-elected for a historic third consecutive term. Modi is the only leader in India to have served as a three-time Chief Minister and now a three-time Prime Minister. His win marks only the second time an Indian leader has retained power for a third term after Jawaharlal Nehru, the country’s first prime minister.

Vasudev Patel informed the gathering that during the election campaign, OFBJP-USA and its members conducted prayer meetings, homas, and several awareness campaigns across various American cities, ranging from car rallies to calling people in India. The BJP is the largest party in the Lok Sabha, and this is the first time since 1962 that a prime minister has been voted into power for a third consecutive term. Several world leaders, including U.S. President Joe Biden, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, have congratulated Prime Minister Modi on the BJP-led NDA coalition’s victory and expressed their desire to work closely with him.
