Alleged Stalker Accused of Kidnapping Woman Despite Protection Order

NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT

Huntington, NY, July 18, 2026 — A 28-year-old Queens man has been charged with kidnapping after authorities say he abducted a 19-year-old woman he had allegedly been stalking and threatening for weeks despite an active order of protection.

According to the Nassau County Police Department and court documents, Balraj Singh, of Richmond Hill, Queens, knew the victim for more than a year and had repeatedly contacted her in violation of an order of protection. Investigators allege that between mid-June and early July, Singh made repeated threats against the young woman and her family through verbal and electronic communications.

Court documents state that Singh demanded the woman meet him in Woodbury on July 6 and allegedly threatened her, saying, “I will slice you like an orange.” Authorities also allege he threatened to harm members of her family, leaving her fearful for their safety.

Police say the woman agreed to meet Singh because she was afraid of what he might do.

According to investigators, once she entered his vehicle, Singh allegedly struck her several times in the face, refused to let her leave, and displayed a box cutter. He then allegedly drove her to the Abbey Motor Inn in Huntington, where he told her, “You’re never going back home.”

Despite being held against her will, the woman was able to call 911 from the motel. Police responded, located her, and arrested Singh without incident.

Singh has been charged with second-degree kidnapping, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, three counts of criminal contempt for allegedly violating the order of protection, three counts of aggravated harassment, menacing, and harassment.

He was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead and pleaded not guilty. The charges remain allegations, and Singh is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Domestic violence advocates say the case underscores the dangers posed by stalking, repeated threats, and violations of protection orders, while also highlighting the courage it often takes for survivors to seek help in life-threatening situations.

The investigation remains ongoing.
