Atlanta, GA, April 10, 2025: The Aligarh Alumni Association of Atlanta (AAAA) celebrated its Annual Eid Picnic over the weekend, drawing thousands of attendees from across metro Atlanta and neighboring states. The event, held at Medlock Corporate Pavilion in Pinckneyville Park, Norcross, served as both a festive Eid celebration and a vibrant reunion for alumni of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), their families, and the wider community.
The daylong event featured traditional music, a diverse array of snacks and culinary offerings, mehndi (henna) art, and face painting stations. Children received Eidi gifts, while families enjoyed engaging activities, including a Free Portrait Station offering professional photographs to commemorate the occasion.
Open to the public and free of charge, the picnic embodied the spirit of unity and shared heritage among AMU alumni. Attendees enjoyed a blend of cultural festivities, food, games, and opportunities for networking and discussion on future community initiatives led by AAAA.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of a formal resolution from the Georgia House of Representatives, recognizing the Aligarh Alumni Association of Atlanta for its cultural contributions, educational advocacy, and community engagement. The resolution was met with enthusiastic applause, acknowledging the association’s longstanding impact on Georgia’s multicultural landscape.
Another memorable moment came with the collective singing of the AMU Tarana. Alumni, joined by their families and guests, sang the university anthem together, evoking fond memories and a sense of pride in their alma mater.

The event’s success was made possible through the generous support of donors and sponsors. Organizers expressed deep appreciation to individuals, businesses, and community partners whose contributions ensured the picnic’s success. Special recognition was given to Platinum Sponsor Aziz Dhanani, CEO of Premier Petroleum, whose support played a key role in funding food, entertainment, and family-friendly activities.

The AAAA’s Annual Eid Picnic continues to serve as a meaningful cultural tradition, bringing together generations of AMU alumni and fostering a strong sense of community in the Atlanta area.
