Bhimas Brings South Indian Flavors and Great Value to North Atlanta

BY ASIM RAO*

Bhimas is a wonderful addition to North Atlanta’s dining scene! Located near the intersection of Windermere Parkway and Buford Highway in Cumming, this 100% vegetarian restaurant serves flavorful South Indian and Indo-Chinese food at great prices.

Everything we ordered was delicious. The rava dosa was crisp, light, and—most importantly—not greasy, unlike the dosas at a few other restaurants in the area. The medu vada arrived piping hot and was full of flavor. The sambar was equally delicious and perfect for dunking the vadas.

Most entrées come with four chutneys: coconut, peanut, tomato, and green. The green chutney was just okay, but the other three were excellent.

The table next to us ordered the enormous 70MM dosa, which looked big enough to feed a family of four! At around $30, it seemed like an excellent value, especially with food prices continuing to rise.

We also tried the Beach Street Fried Noodles, which were interesting and packed with nostalgic flavors. They reminded me of the Indo-Chinese noodles served by street vendors back in Mumbai.

The service was courteous and attentive. Our server was kind and patiently explained how to order using our phones. The restaurant’s high-tech app lets you browse the menu, place your order, and even call for service. Every menu item comes with a picture (possibly AI-generated), making it much easier to see what you’re ordering.

Overall, Bhimas gets a well-deserved 5/5 from me for its delicious food, courteous service, modern ordering experience, and excellent value.

The location is very convenient for us, although it may be a little tricky for first-time visitors to find. So be sure to turn on your GPS!
