Vivek Ramaswamy Hails Wife Apoorva as True Hero

NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT

Marion County, OH, April 27, 2025: At a recent campaign stop in Marion County, Ohio, entrepreneur-turned-Gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy took a moment to spotlight the contributions of his wife, Dr. Apoorva Ramaswamy, calling her the “real hero” of their family.

Speaking to a packed audience as part of his 2026 gubernatorial bid, Ramaswamy praised Dr. Apoorva’s work as a physician who saves lives daily. “I think maybe some of you know her in the audience,” he said, drawing a warm response as three audience members stood up and shared their experiences of having been her patients.

Dr. Apoorva Ramaswamy is a laryngologist specializing in swallowing disorders at The Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center. A graduate of Yale University, where she met Vivek during their student years, she has earned widespread respect not only for her medical expertise but also for her compassionate approach to patient care.

During his 2024 presidential campaign, he often highlighted her dual roles as a surgeon and a mother, describing her as a source of inspiration and humility. In an earlier interview in Atlanta, he had remarked, “I think I do derive a lot of the humility from my wife, who is a leader in her own way, in her own unique world.”

Beyond her medical career, Dr. Ramaswamy has been an active supporter of her husband’s political aspirations, participating in campaign events and speaking about the importance of civic engagement. Reflecting on the responsibility that comes with parenthood, she once said, “You realize you might not be interested in the government, but the government is definitely interested in you.”
