Pujari Desi Boisakhi Mela showcases Bengali culture and cuisine

BY ARADHANA MAZUMDAR BHATTACHARYA

Atlanta, GA, June 2, 2023: The ‘Desi Boisakhi Mela’ was an innovative concept that not only showcased the highlights of Bengali culture and cuisine but additionally weaved in the notion of inclusion by inviting people from other Indian communities with multi-cultural backgrounds to come and immerse in the spirit of celebration.

‘Entertainment’, ‘Entertainment’ and ‘Entertainment’….That is exactly what the mela had in store for its patrons. Beautiful musical and instrumental renditions by both in and out-of-state participants, foot-tapping dance performances by prominent local groups ranging from ‘Bharatanatyam’ to ‘Bhangra’ and ‘Rabindrik’ to ‘Bollywood’, each event captivated the minds of all present.

Thought-provoking drama that kept all entertained. Food stalls that not only showcased authentic Bengali delicacies but also included a twist of India street food and a wide range of food truck offerings.

Multiple ‘Fashion Shows’ laced with glitz and glamor; showcasing attractive and wearable collections, revealed a narrative of style and color and struck a chord with the crowd.

As if all this was not  enough, there was a record number of clothing and jewelry stalls that displayed their latest offerings in fashion to the benefit of the customers.

The ‘Pujari youth committee’ kept the little ones busy with face painting. In spite of this being a maiden event; planned and executed by the Pujari Executive Committee, the ‘Desi Boisakhi Mela’ had a smooth flow of operations with a record number of footfall and a very high ‘fun’ quotient.

“Pujari is very thankful to all its members, volunteers, patrons, mela participants and sponsors for making this event a colossal success,” said a press release issued by the association.
