Georgia woman killed in attempted carjacking

NRI Pulse Staff Report

Atlanta, GA, November 16, 2018: Dharmisthaben Patel, a 33-year-old Indian American woman was killed in an attempted carjacking in Albany, Georgia last Saturday.

Albany Police Department, through a press release, said the suspect approached the vehicle of Dharmisthaben and her husband Bharat Ishvar Patel while they were in the parking lot of Devi’s Convenience Store. He tried to open the driver side door but Bharat Ishvar Patel drove off. The suspect fired a shot into the vehicle and Dharmisthaben was struck in the back of her left shoulder. She later died from the gunshot wound.

The reward for good tip information in the homicide of Patel is increasing thanks to a citizen who wants to remain anonymous, the police release said.

Crime Stoppers chairperson Judy Randle says the donation check is for $2000.

Wright Woodall with Woodall’s and Jeff Lanier with Home Run Foods pledged on thousand-dollars each.

If anyone has information, call Crime Stoppers at 229-436-tips or the Albany Police Department to talk with an investigator at 229-431-2100. All calls will remain anonymous.

A GoFundMe account set up in Patel’s honor described her as a great person, always happy and very kind-hearted to everyone she met.

“She had two young kids and her husband who will need help financially, help raise a college tuition and much more. Due to Dharmishthaben being taken under such tragic circumstances and at such an early age there is no guarantee of life insurance.”
