New York City, May 11, 2025: Indian singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh captivated the fashion world at the 2025 Met Gala, earning the top spot on Vogue readers’ Best Dressed list. The gala, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, embraced the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrating the evolution of Black fashion and its global influence.
Dosanjh’s ensemble, a custom creation by designer Prabal Gurung, paid homage to his Punjabi heritage. He donned a regal sherwani adorned with intricate gold embroidery, paired with an ivory turban and a ceremonial sword, symbolizing cultural pride and elegance. This look resonated with attendees and readers alike, blending traditional South Asian attire with contemporary fashion sensibilities.
“They said Punjabis can’t do fashion, and I said, I will show you,” Dosanjh remarked during a recent performance in Mumbai, reflecting his commitment to challenging stereotypes and showcasing his culture on global platforms.
Other notable mentions on Vogue’s list included K-pop star S.Coups, who wore a modernized hanbok-inspired suit by Hugo Boss, and actress Zendaya, who impressed in a white Louis Vuitton three-piece suit complemented by a dramatic brimmed hat.
Dosanjh’s appearance at the Met Gala marks another milestone in his illustrious career.
