Chai and Just Chat panel reflects on MLK’s peace-making legacy

BY PONCHO WILSON

Atlanta, GA, February 8, 2019: If anyone could convince a group of thought leaders from across metro Atlanta to navigate north metro Atlanta traffic on a late January Saturday afternoon, it’s Dr. Nazeera Dawood.

“This was, without doubt, one of the most unique panel presentations I have ever experienced,” said panelist Heather Gray of the Justice Initiative and WRFG radio personality.  “I was so appreciative of the audience from Ukraine.”

International momentum is building with Dr. Dawood’s Chai & Just Chat public video forum series following December’s focus on targeted gold thefts throughout metro Atlanta’s Indian community that was prominently featured on WSBTV’s Channel 2 Action News.

On January 26, however, the focus shifted to reflecting on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s peace-making legacy and how women leaders especially are doing just that.

“Panelists shared history and herstory and were invariably united in a personal and professional struggle against violence in all forms at home and abroad,” Dr. Dawood said. “We reflected upon Martin Luther King Jr., Gandhi, and women leaders’ life and legacy towards a just and equal society free of racism, poverty, slavery, militarism and hatred.”
