Indian American Students Among Georgia’s 2026 Scholars Honorees

Atlanta, GA, April 3, 2026: Several Indian American students are among the 162 graduating seniors recognized as 2026 Georgia Scholars by the Georgia Department of Education, highlighting the community’s continued academic excellence across the state.

State School Superintendent Richard Woods announced the honorees, describing them as students who “exemplify excellence in academics, leadership, and service.” Each Georgia Scholar receives a special seal for their diploma and a graduation cord in recognition of their achievement.

Among those recognized are students from multiple metro Atlanta districts, including Cobb, Forsyth, Fulton, and DeKalb counties, as well as schools across other parts of Georgia.

From Cobb County, honorees include Krishna Anand, Neelam Chadha Jimenez Potter, Prayushi Padhi, and Maya Virani of Campbell High School. George Walton Comprehensive High School students Hrehaan Bhutada, Aashrith Muppalla, Dev Patel, Jeremiah Raj, and Vibha Vijay were also named, along with Amol Balakrishnan and Arianna Mukherji of Lassiter High School and Zayne Nair of Wheeler High School.

In Forsyth County, Denmark High School’s Nihitha Ambati and North Forsyth High School students Naman Sinha, Prithvi Veliyath, and Likhitha Sri Vutukuri were recognized.

Fulton County’s Innovation Academy student Shivani Lal also made the list, while DeKalb County honorees include Daniyal Singapuri of Chamblee High School and Jiya Shah of Tucker High School.

Beyond metro Atlanta, Mihir Tailor of Northside High School in Houston County, Shruti Chaluvadi of North Oconee High School, Roohe Khan of Columbus High School, Rudra Patel of Thomas County Central High School, and Pranav Shankar of Tift County High School were also among those recognized.

From private schools, Sundus Khatri and Akshay Maheshwari of Fulton Science Academy were included in the honors list.

The Georgia Scholar program, coordinated by the Department of Education in partnership with local school districts, honors students who maintain rigorous academic course loads while also demonstrating leadership and active involvement in school and community service.
