50 ITServe Members Log 21 Million Steps in 60 Days, Championing Wellness in Tech Industry

BY AJAY GHOSH

In an amazing display of commitment to health and community, 50 members of ITServe Alliance collectively logged over 21 million steps in 60 days as part of a nationwide wellness challenge. The initiative, titled “Achieve Over One Million Steps in Two Months,” encouraged participants to prioritize physical activity amid the demands of their fast-paced IT careers.

The challenge ran from May 10 to July 10, 2025, and motivated members to walk an average of one million steps each—the equivalent of nearly 500 miles per participant. Four standout walkers surpassed this milestone, with Sitaram Mukkamala emerging as the top achiever, recording 1.2 million steps.

“This wasn’t just about steps,” said Suresh Punna, Sports & Wellness Chair of ITServe and lead organizer of the challenge. “It was about building momentum toward better health, stronger bonds, and a shared purpose. Every single participant who laced up and showed up should feel proud.”

The top achievers were:

  • Sitaram Mukkamala – 1.2 million steps
  • Sunil Pantra – 1.09 million steps
  • Raja Sajja – 1.05 million steps
  • Palaniappan Subramanian – 1.00 million steps

Reflecting on the experience, Mukkamala said, “From early morning walks to evening jogs, every step taken was a commitment to personal well-being and collective motivation. This challenge sparked healthy habits and connection across our vibrant ITServe family.”

A Culture of Wellness in IT

For Anju Vallabhaneni, National President of ITServe 2025, the success of the program demonstrates the importance of balancing professional and personal well-being.
“Logging 21 million steps in 60 days is truly a remarkable achievement,” he said. “Congratulations to all members who participated and set an example for our community.”

Raghu Chittimalla, Governing Board Chair 2025, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the need for tech leaders to focus on health:
“As CEOs and leaders, we can be lost in the race to succeed professionally. This challenge allows us to look beyond our careers and prioritize health.”

President-Elect Siva Moopanar added, “Research confirms that daily movement—whether walking or playing a sport—boosts both physical and mental well-being. This challenge helped our members experience that firsthand.”

The Steps Challenge also fostered camaraderie across ITServe’s 22 chapters nationwide. Punna credited the success to local chapter leaders and sponsors who championed the wellness initiative.

“This was just the beginning,” Punna said. “Movement inspires community, and at ITServe, our strength lies in walking together toward a healthier, happier future.”

Founded in 2010, ITServe Alliance is the largest association of IT solutions and services organizations in the U.S., representing small and mid-sized firms nationwide. The alliance advocates for members’ interests and empowers them through networking, advocacy, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
