North Georgia Indian Dance Festival returns on April 22

Atlanta, GA, April 18, 2023: Soorya Foundation for Performing Arts, a pioneer in the Indian performing arts arena of North Georgia and Southern California, has announced that the fourth edition of the North Georgia Indian Dance Festival will take place on April 22 at West Forsyth High School. 

The festival will be inaugurated by Georgia House Representative Todd Jones (District 25) and is free to attend. During the event, Guru Sheila Rubin of Natyananda School of Indian classical dance will be honored for her lifetime achievement by Veena Rao, founding editor NRI Pulse Newspaper, the first newspaper to be published and edited by a Non-Resident Indian woman in the World.

The festival will feature renowned and award-winning Indian classical performers including: 

• Deeksha School of Performing Arts of Atlanta, GA

• Soorya Dance Ensemble of Atlanta, GA

• RAMA of Atlanta, GA

• Nrithya Samarpanam of Atlanta, GA

• Samyuktam Natya Academy of Atlanta, GA

• Three Aksha Dance Company of Philadelphia, PA

• NATYANANDA School of Indian classical dance of Birmingham, AL

Soorya Foundation for Performing Arts is a nonprofit organization founded in Los Angeles under the able guidance of award winning Bharathanatyam dancer, choreographer, musician, Guru Sushma Mohan. The foundation aims to preserve, protect, and promote Indian Traditional Performing Arts through dance and music festivals, performances, dance productions, lecture-demonstrations and master classes by renowned gurus and performers in Los Angeles and Atlanta.
