Uber Eats Driver Accused of Returning to Customer’s Home, Charged With Rape

NRI PULSE STAFF REPORT

Boston, MA, April 1, 2026: A 47-year-old Uber Eats delivery driver has been jailed after being accused of returning to a customer’s home hours after a food delivery and sexually assaulting her, according to police.

The accused, Jitendrakumar Prajapati, allegedly delivered food to a woman in Boston on January 19. Authorities said he briefly interacted with the customer during the delivery before leaving the premises.

Investigators allege that Prajapati later returned to the same residence, gained entry into the home, and raped the woman. The victim reported the incident, prompting a police investigation.

Law enforcement officials said the suspect was quickly identified through delivery records linked to the order. He was arrested and charged with rape and related offenses under Massachusetts law.

During a court appearance, a judge ordered that Prajapati be held without bail, citing the seriousness of the charges and concerns for public safety. His next court hearing is pending.

In a statement, Uber said it was cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation. The company added that the driver’s access to the platform has been removed.

The case has raised fresh concerns about customer safety and privacy, particularly the risks associated with delivery workers having access to residential addresses. Authorities have not released additional details about how the suspect allegedly re-entered the home.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
