Dallas, TX, April 27, 2026: Comedian Raj Sharma, a longtime presence in the Texas stand-up circuit, died on Friday, April 24, following a string of recent hospitalizations. He was 50.
Sharma had been dealing with serious health complications in recent months and had been hospitalized multiple times, according to fellow comedians and local reports. A recent social media post showed him in the intensive care unit, underscoring the severity of his condition. An official cause of death has not yet been publicly released.
A veteran performer with more than two decades in stand-up, Sharma was known for his quick improvisation and sharp crowd work. Based in Dallas, he was a familiar figure in comedy clubs across Texas and played a role in building the local comedy scene. He also co-founded shows such as “Indians at The Improv,” which spotlighted South Asian comedians.
His material often drew from his experiences as an Indian American, resonating with diverse audiences while maintaining a distinctly personal style.
Tributes poured in from across the comedy community following news of his death. Comedian Vir Das remembered Sharma as “almost impossible to follow” on stage and credited him with offering early support as he navigated the U.S. comedy circuit.
